Each of our notes ends with a catalyst list. This is the short version: what the next reports and announcements will tell us about the three companies, and which line in our valuation each one touches.
GABC: third-quarter results and the dividend
The second quarter was released on July 27 and the 10-Q filed on August 6, so the next report is likely late October to early November; the company had not confirmed a date in the filings we reviewed. Two things to watch. First, the dividend declared with the results: the current quarterly rate is $0.31 per share. Second, any buyback authorization, because no repurchase row appears on either cash-flow statement. On the valuation side, our model starts return on tangible equity at 18.0% and fades it to 14.0%, while the price implies about 16.0% held for a decade.
MZTI: the first quarter after the acquisition
The 10-Q for the quarter ended September 30, 2026 is expected in early November. It is the first read on post-acquisition cash flow, debt and trailing figures; our free cash flow base holds only two months of Bachan’s, which closed on May 1, 2026. On the August 25 call, management said a Cyclospora outbreak would create a net sales headwind of approximately 250 basis points in the fiscal first quarter, and the CFO said “we are looking at a 15% decline roughly in operating income in Q1.” Management also forecast total capital expenditures of $90 million for fiscal 2027; our free cash flow measure uses $77.7M of property additions for fiscal 2026, so the definitions may differ and the comparison is not like for like. The company expects moderate inflation in fiscal 2027, to be offset with pricing and cost savings.
CHH: franchise costs and owned-hotel sales
Choice Hotels will report third-quarter results on Monday, November 2, 2026 (release before the market opens, call at 10:00 a.m. ET), per its October 7 announcement. The lines to watch are U.S. RevPAR (FY2026 guidance is growth of 0% to 1.25%), the royalty-rate gain (7 to 9 basis points guided), and whether franchise agreement acquisition costs normalize; they drove first-half operating cash flow down to $67.4M from $116.1M. The first owned-hotel asset sales are expected in the first half of 2027, subject to market conditions.
